Driver Education:

General Information:

The classroom dates will be listed on the website and included in the contracts. Classroom sessions will be a total of thirty (30) hours. Driving times will be determined the first night of class. Driving is a total of six (6) hours of driving and six (6) hours observation of their driving partner.

Tuition:

The cost for the entire session is $725.00 plus a $55.00 textbook deposit for a total cost of $780.00. The $55.00 deposit is refunded if the textbook is returned in the condition, it was issued in. Please see a further explanation below under Textbook Information. The $100.00 deposit is non-refundable but transferable to a future class.

Requirements (Classroom):

The State of Vermont requires all Driver Education Courses to have a minimum of thirty (30) classroom hours and six (6) of actual driving time, also six (6) observation time. Therefore, attendance at all sessions is required. If for any reason you cannot make a session, you must notify the school in advance of that session. For excused absences, up to a total of two (2) hours, arrangements will be made for a make-up session at no extra charge. Anytime over the two (2) hours but not more than four (4) hours, students will be allowed to make up the class at an added cost of $72.00 per hour. Any student with more than four (4) hours of absence will be dropped from the course. In any event, neither absence nor your removal from class will give you the right to expect a refund of any tuition amount.

Requirements (Driving):

Just as a reminder and as said in the informational letter mailed prior to the beginning of class: “Upon completion of the driving, the student must be able to perform basic driving tasks to pass the course.”

I mention this in hopes the student has practiced the tasks necessary to pass. They would include, but not limited to backing safely and efficiently (including parallel parking), safe interaction and proper yielding at intersections with various traffic lights, knowledge of how to manage “all way stops” properly, merging and lane changing with proper checks and speed control.

(I have had a few students who recently came to do their last drive and did not drive well enough to pass. Re-tests are $54 and try my best encouraging students to practice and avoid having to re-test.)

Completion:

There is no guarantee that you will pass either this course or the State of Vermont Driver’s License exam, but upon satisfactory completion of the course, the school will so certify to the State of Vermont DMV.

Textbook Information:

Textbooks are lent to students and should be returned in the condition they were in when handed to the student. If the books are returned with any marks, writings, tears, discoloration, or any other conditions we feel are not normal use, the deposit will not be refunded, and the book will become your property.

Private Driving Lessons:

Private lessons are generally either forty-five (45) or sixty (60) minutes. The current cost is $54.00 for a 45-minute lesson and $72.00 for an hour lesson.

There is no requirement for a specific number of lessons unlike the Driver Education course.

A valid VT state Learner’s permit or a valid out of state license is needed before we can drive with you.

All instruction is required to be in our vehicle.
